Teaching beyond Core Curriculum, Calling students & teachers!

When educators are directed to teach with emphasis on core curriculum because of assessment pressure, when and how can a teacher share his/her passion about what they teach? Could we possibly be losing our high school students to interests outside of academia because educators do not spark any personal interest in what they teach? Are we losing the opportunity to share excitement with special projects and discussion enlightening students with heightened knowledge and curiosity?

Calling all educators, high school students, college students and young adults!

If you have a passionate interest, did it come from an enlightened teacher? How?

If you lost a passion or interest, was your interest un-fueled in the classroom?

As a teacher, do you feel you are shoving general knowledge as quick as possible without developing the personal connection and interest needed to understand the knowledge?

Any suggestions for fixes?
